The Cottage
Built in 1888 as a winter shelter for workers who made
chestnut fencing posts for use all over France, Les Marronniers was converted
into a family home in 1975.
Downstairs you'll find a spacious and bright living room cum kitchen diner
with a wonderful ceiling of huge chestnut beams.
This dining area is near the French windows, so you can enjoy the lovely views
from the over the wooded Oribiel valley while you eat. |

The kitchen is well equipped. It has a
refrigerator, gas cooker, automatic washing machine, microwave oven, toaster,
electric kettle, coffee machine. There is an extensive set of good quality cooking
utensils, and plenty of crockery and cutlery.
Off the living room is a bathroom with basin and
two baths, one English style, the other French style with a sit-on step.
There is also a separate lavatory, and a spacious cupboard used as a woodstore,
with space for storing a couple of bikes. |
|
The downstairs living area has comfortable
seating. In the summer, its a shady place where you can escape the extremity of
the midday sun. In Autumn and Winter, you can light the woodburner and curl up
with a good book. There is a good quality Technics mini hi-fi system which plays
CDs, cassettes and radio - so remember to pack your favourite sounds!
Upstairs is again open plan. It is a large, well-lit space with two large Velux
roof lights in addition to a small window and a larger one which opens to floor
level. |
